Weave some history at The Mills

A former cotton-spinning factory turned creative enclave, The Mills in Tsuen Wan is, among other things, home to CHAT – Centre for Heritage Arts & Textile – which is quickly becoming one of Hong Kong’s coolest cultural institutions. Welcome to the Spinning Factory, an exhibition on display until 3 November, invites visitors to explore rare historical photos of the city’s textile manufacturing past, learn the difference between yarn weights and weaves and have a go at using traditional spinning instruments to create a personal brand label. Learn about old-school Hong Kong brands like Nan Fung Textiles, one of the major players in the city’s textile industry, or discover the origins of the classic Good Morning towel.
