Hong Kong Airlines reaffirms its commitment to safety at the first Cargo Safety Seminar
Hong Kong Airlines continues to demonstrate its commitment to the importance of cargo safety by taking part in the Cargo Safety Seminar, held on 6 and 7 August 2019, which they partly sponsored. Jointly organised by the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) and Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (HKCAD), the event was the first of its kind. The seminar brought together representatives from IATA, government regulators, airport authorities, airlines, industry associations, ground services providers, freight forwarders and cargo agents, who deliberated over important topics related to cargo safety measures.
Captain Alex Linhares, director of Hong Kong Airlines’ Corporate Safety, Quality Assurance and Security Department, was invited to present on the topic of “Improving Safety on Cargo Operations through Industry Partnership – Airline’s Perspective”. He also moderated an open discussion about “Managing Cargo Safety Risks in Aircraft Weight and Balance Compliance through an Air Cargo Supply Chain Approach”. The two-day event was attended by Hong Kong Airlines senior management including Chairman Hou Wei, and Chief Executive Officer Sun Jianfeng.
High safety standards and a secure environment for staff and passengers have always been paramount for Hong Kong Airlines. This year, the airline received multiple awards in the Airport Safety Recognition Scheme by the Airport Authority of Hong Kong.
