Earning its place at the epicentre of Hong Kong’s art world, Tai Kwun recently opened its head-spinning “Murakami vs Murakami” exhibition, a surreal survey of 60 subversive pieces by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. To call this show multifaceted would be an understatement: The seemingly incongruous mix of psychedelic floral art, apocalyptic skull motifs, manga characters, wild cosplay costume designs, video art and gold-embossed Japanese paintings tackles themes like anxiety, trauma and perfectionism. Until 1 September.
