Beyond markets, restaurants and nightlife, the districts of Wan Chai and Sham Shui Po now have an eye-catching new draw for visitors and locals alike. Over the next year of the three-year programme, Design District Hong Kong (#ddHK) aims to illuminate the areas’ unique traits by foregrounding original design concepts, traditional craftsmanship and distinct architecture. Check out the numerous murals by local artists on public-facing walls and on trams, or sign up for special walking routes with optional guided tours. There will be tours of Wan Chai’s architectural gems, conducted in both English and Mandarin, on three Saturdays during June.
