Here’s a novel way to spend time with your partner: staying in an airstream out in California’s Mojave High Desert. At Kate’s Lazy Desert Airstream Motel, you’ll be put up in one of six colourful caravans, which artists have decked out in themes such as “Tiki”, “Tinkerbell” and “Hot Lava”. All caravans come with a bed, bathroom and a small kitchenette. Beyond the incredible desert views and starry nights, it’s also not every day that you can say you’ve stayed in a motel owned by a celebrity: the Kate in question is Kate Pierson, one of the members of American new-wave band The B-52s.
