To show off another side of the city and to cater to the growing awareness about healthy dining habits, tour outfit Hong Kong Greeters recently launched Grass Routes, the first vegetarian food and culture tour in Hong Kong.
Led by Nadia Kiely, 3.5-hour excursion brings small groups across Kowloon and the New Territories, starting with a visit to the buzzing Wong Tai Sin Temple.
Then there’s veggie-loaded dim sum at nearby Shanghai Teng, a walk through peaceful Chi Lin Nunnery and a sweet snack of Happy Cow dairy-free ice cream. The tour ends with a visit to the beautifully restored Old Tai Po Police Station, where you’ll dine on fresh-from-the-farm dishes at Eat Well Canteen.
“We’re always fielding questions about where to find great vegetarian cuisine in Hong Kong. Developing this tour made sense on many levels,” says Kiely.
