Red and white titles: check. 1950s diner vibe: check. French fries so delicious you’ll be reluctant to share: check, check, check. Beloved American burger chain Five Guys has finally made its Asian debut right here in Hong Kong. At its 3,700ft² Wan Chai outlet, you won’t see a single freezer or microwave – the chain prides itself on only using fresh ingredients. Potatoes are cut fresh daily, soaked to remove the starch and double-fried in 100% peanut oil for fries with that crispy outside and fluffy “mashed potato” inside. Pay for a basic burger or hot dog, then jazz it up with a choice of 15 free toppings plus bacon and cheese. And since you’re already indulging, wash it all down with a hand-spun vanilla milkshake. What New Year’s resolution?
