Get in line for the world’s best pizza

Italian chef Franco Pepe – behind Caiazzo restaurant Pepe in Grani, two-time winner of the 50 Top Pizza in Italy list – has opened the first Asian branch of Geneva-based pizzeria Kytaly on Hong Kong’s Wyndham Street. Decked out in 1930s Italian décor, the restaurant, which Pepe co-owns, offers up 19 types of premium pizzas and houses the city’s first dedicated Campari bar. “We want to inspire people to see the pizza in a different way. It’s not just junk food; pizza can also be a fine food experience,” says co-owner Alessandro Bortesi. His go-to pie? The Scarpetta, made with cream of 12-month-aged Grana Padano cheese, authentic mozzarella di bufala, a tomato compote, pesto and extra virgin olive oil.
